To explain the working process

METHODOLOGY :

Listed for all the hardware used
Understanding the working process flow of the project
Stated and understand each function of project's component

RESULTS :

This is the block diagram I''ll able to produce:

ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION:
1. Solar panel generated electricity to power up the charger control and charge the backup battery to supply the node mcu.
3. With the wi-fi module the node mcu will sent the data to smartphone and the data can be view using the blynk app.
4. There will be three output connected to the node mcu and the data also will be sent to smartphone.
5. From the blynk app, we be able to monitor and control the socket.
CONCLUSION:
There are so many more hardware need to be clarify in this project. There will be further changes of hardware and also block diagram in the future.

WEEK 5

TITLE : Set Up Objective, Scope & Limitation

OBJECTIVES :
To find a suitable objectives that can solve the problem statement
To have a problem that solvable by the project
To set scopes to my project to make it more detail and specific
To put limitation to my project so that the project's scale is achievable

METHODOLOGY :
Study and understand the problem statement
Make a list of possible objectives
Look for any other suitable solution that can relate to the problem
The process took in order to solve the problem
Learn about the FYP budget given
Consult with supervisor about the presentation marking scheme
Try brainstorming whether the project is within student range and ability

RESULTS :

Objective
  • To develop a socket can be remotely controlled
  • To monitoring energy everyday usage

Scope
  •    Focusing on energy saver and home security
  •    Focusing indoor usage
  •    Monitor and control using Blynk apps on smartphone

Limitation of Project

·        Limited requires Wi-Fi always needed

ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION:

  • These objectives still need to be filter and approve by my supervisor
  • These objectives seem to be clear with my problem statement
  • Besides that, development of this project has limitations in their operation. The limitation is the project requires WIFI is always needed.

CONCLUSION:
I had found a suitable objectives for my FYP project
The objectives still need approval for my supervisor
Listing the scope makes the student realized that their project can be more specific
Some of the limitation make the project cannot extend to its full potential

WEEK 4

OBJECTIVES :
To find another project that similar and make reference
To make comparison between existing project and my project

METHODOLOGY :
Search the internet for existing project that have similarity with my project

RESULTS :

1)  Title: Remote-Controllable Power Outlet System for Home Power Management
          Author: Chia-Hung Lien, Ying-Wen Bai, and Ming-Bo Lin (2007)

2) Title: Simulation of Design and Implementation of Smart Socket Prototype Controlled by Android Application
Author: R A Wahyudi, A Saripudin and A H S Budi (2017)

3) Title: Remote Controlled Smart Socket
Author: Yuqiao Huang and Shiyuan Zhu

4)Title: AutoPlug: AN AUTOMATED METADATA SERVICE FOR SMART OUTLETS
    Author: LURDH PRADEEP REDDY AMBATI

5)Title: Wirelessly Controlled Smart Outlet
Author: Andrew Godsil & Ariel Dubinsky

ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION:
  • There were previous 5 project that I'll able to use them as benchmark
  • It's possible to make some adjustment and improvement

CONCLUSION:

  • I need to study a lot of things about the Internet of Things (IOT)

OBJECTIVES :

  • To find a suitable problem statement that leads to the FYP project idea
  • To have a problem that solvable by the project
  • To make the project useful for future

METHODOLOGY :

  • Search the internet for current issues throughout Malaysia
  • Validate the problem with some articles or facts
  • Look for any other suitable solution that can relate to the problem
  • The process took in order to solve the problem

RESULTS:
1. Energy Wastage
  • What would you say if I told you that about three-quarters of what you spend on electricity every month is wasted? Considering that Americans spend about $350 billion on electricity annually, I hope you’ll find this as shocking as I do.
  • From generation to delivery to consumption, inefficiencies at every step of electricity’s journey add up to a lot of waste. Fortunately, these same conditions present us with opportunities to substantially reduce inefficiencies and their associated economic, social, and environmental impacts.

2. Safety
  • Most criminals who burglarize homes are looking for an easy hit; a house that they can break into quickly, take something of value and leave without being detected. There’s no fail-proof way to keep out a burglar, but every little bit of deterrence helps.  Even if you can’t afford a security system, you can take a few minutes to make your home a little more secure. Some relatively simple steps will greatly decrease the odds of a break-in, which means you can enjoy a bit more peace of mind. And isn’t that what “home” is all about?

ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION:

  • The problem statement that can be used:
  1. Home safety for a long term travel
  2. Reduce the usage of electricity

CONCLUSION:
  • I had found an opportune problem statement for my FYP project
  • The problem statement still need amendment if any conception emerge in the future
